How To Get Dried Blood Out of Clothing
By Rebecca | March 19, 2008
Ok, it sounds gross and it really is gross, but as girls we all know that we have to deal with blood a lot more than we would like to. Whether it is from a sister’s loose tooth or a nephew’s cut head, chances are if there is blood, it’s going to get on your clothing. (Not to mention those pesky feminine problems that seem to have been invented to ruin our favorite clothes.) Anyway, as one girl to another, here’s a bit of useful advice to get blood out of most types of clothing.
The best thing for blood stains is to wash them out with cold water while they are still fresh. However, that’s not always possible. So, if the blood has dried, wash it out with hydrogen peroxide. Yes, it’s the same stuff that your mom uses to clean your scraped knees. It gets all white and foamy when it reacts with the blood on your cuts.
The hydrogen peroxide will react much the same way with the blood on your clothes. After dousing the stain, wash the clothing in the normal way. If the stain is not gone after washing, line dry the item and treat it again.
This treatment is not effective with stains that have been through the dryer.
